Signature rituals

Three rituals, set out slowly.

These take longer than a usual appointment, and we like them that way. Here is what happens in each, minute by minute.

The Evening Hammam

Steam, black soap and a long rinse, the way a neighbourhood hammam does it, in a room that is yours alone.

Around the Mediterranean the hammam is a weekly habit, and a slow one. We kept the order of it and brought it upstairs, to a private room with tadelakt walls that hold the heat.

Noor begins with ten minutes of steam, then spreads beldi soap over the skin and leaves it to soften. The scrub follows, with a kessa glove, firm and unhurried.

A warm rinse from a copper bowl, then a cooler one. The ritual ends with argan oil on damp skin, and a blanket and tea on the upstairs terrace.

Rhassoul and Rosewater

A mineral clay mask, softened with rosewater and put on warm. Skin that feels clean and calm.

Rhassoul is a mineral clay, dug from the Atlas mountains and used for centuries to wash skin and hair. It cleans without stripping.

We mix it fresh with rosewater and a little prickly pear seed oil, and apply it warm over a short steam. While it works, there is a scalp and shoulder massage.

The mask comes off with warm cloths. A few drops of oil, a cool rosewater mist, and you can walk back out into the afternoon.

The Bridal Morning

A morning set aside for one person, from the first glass of tea to the last pin.

We start with a trial, weeks before, so nothing on the day is a surprise. Yasmine keeps a photograph of what you chose, and the exact pins and products it needed.

On the morning, she works through hair, skin and hands in one sitting, with Noor close by for the skin ritual. The room is yours, with your family welcome in the courtyard.

If you are getting ready at a hotel in Chiado or a quinta outside the city, we come to you. The same stylist stays with you until you walk out.

Two hands joined, wedding rings and a small bouquet

The process

  1. 0 min

    Tea and timings

We confirm the hour you must be ready, and work backwards from it.

  2. 20 min

    Skin

A short rhassoul mask and rosewater, so skin takes make-up evenly.

  3. 60 min

    Hands

Shape, cuticles, a warm paraffin wrap and your chosen colour.

  4. 100 min

    Hair

Dried, set and pinned. We test the movement before we finish.

  5. 210 min
